A new challenger for the iPhone, the Palm Pre debuted this weekend with a possible waiting list outcome.Â
The Pre offers some features that the iPhone hasn't adjusted to that has become mainstream. For one, a touch screen/slide-out keyboard, calendar-contact and messaging combinations and an ever important OS that is engineered for easier app toggle .
With around 100,000 Palm Pre's sold this weekend, it was a huge success with many buyers placed on a waiting list. The Pre is off to an amazing start in sales that is pushing to re-establish the Palm empire. While Verizon and AT&T at bay with interest in the new Pre, the monopoly is with Sprint's end-of-the-year exclusive rightsÂ
While the new Pre’s is being offered at a high asking price of $199, after a mail-in rebate and 2yr contract, it hasn't stopped buyers from devouring the phone off the shelves and being placed on a waiting list.   Â
